Tonight, truly and not surprisingly is killer. Not that this wouldn’t be expected by the familiar Plantation favourites, three of the top rated artists around the area bundled into one adrenaline fuelled night, but what really gets me is the sheer amount of people that turn up.

Now usually here, it’s a case of either no-one shows up, or a few show up, but never is there much of a fuss around the show. Of course this evening is here to change that, as my first organised show, I figure this line-up is dressed to kill, and it would be a bomb and a half. Little did I expect that not only would it sell out, but around sixty-eight people would be turned away, leaving sixty lucky people to enjoy the night. My maths isn’t great but if I’m not mistaken, but sixty add sixty-eight would be a jaw-dropping 128 people. Not only was the café filled but 128 people showed up for this gig. I get the feeling for once, someone has over promoted, and this of course is not a bad thing unless you'r one of the unlucky people who were turned away. Bad luck mates  'cause this gig really was the stuff, where to start I don’t know, so lets start from the beginning...

After a hectic rush of sorting the crowd, a few brief sound checks and a few sherbet sticks (a great alternative for those unable to go down the pub in my eyes), we are blessed with the welcoming sound of the synth-core princes themselves, CANTERBURY.It seems that each time they're here, a warmness of upbeat dancer friendly synthesiser backed punk pop is released, and this crowd certainly isn’t complaining. Blasting through the set like they’ve been here since they last played, the boys set the mood, with huge reactions from the crowd squeezed right up to the band, justice is done for the world of open-acts. Forget motion city soundtrack, these guys rip an un-sewable hole in the hype, taking the pop-punk border a storm and virtually ripping it up! Fun is had, the music that no-one could disagree with is once again flying high on this night,  (and I hope many more nights will be had blessed by these guys quirky performance.

Then after a slight delay are Alt Rock legendaries IDESYNE.Tonight we are treated to what can only be described as alternative heaven, blasting through a set including crowd pleaser “the carrige”. The guys are on fire and aren’t holding any of it back, not a single soul is left unimpressed by this display of togetherness, originality and pure musical genius. These guys are original, focussed and really know how to make music that doesn’t match the likes of any other alt-rock group of our time, or any for that mater. Those snotty Indy bands can go shove it as these guys quite obviously win. Idesyne quite literally are the  dog's nadgers when it comes to uk rock, and how this isn’t being sold in record stores around the country is a crime. Enough said me thinks. So after this, you’d think the night couldn’t be topped, but oh no, wait! There's more.

Louder, harder and ofthe hook are tonight’s much welcomed back headliners A STRANGER IN MOSCOW. We have kids outside crying because they want to see them, and to be honest I think  I'd be crying if I hadn’t been here to experience this. Throwing the crowd into a frenzy of adrenaline fuelled post hardcore blended with a hint of emotional-rock, the boys really are back to claim their thron as the only local post-hardcore / screamo band that DOESEN ' T SOUND THE SAME AS EVERY OTHER  ACT. It is undeniable these guys, all still relatively young are the kings of their category, and I cannot believe for a second that they won't go further than this. Tight, on top and in control of every aspect of their music, the boys set this place alight with their sound, sending kids flying from left to right from the first chord.

A piece of advice to any bands attempting to get into the scene, check these bands and for goodness  sake realise that it is through hours of writing, many a  late  night and an overall mint understanding as to what you'r doing that we are left with that feeling in the pit of our stomachs that as long as these bands can keep the scene alive, we're set for a life of brilliant music.

Much Love

Dan Carter
