It comes as a great surprise how one minute, it's looking like people just aren’t hearing about the gigs here, and the next, we have flocks of kids turning up for shows that in all honesty, having not heard of any of them I had assumed would provide a poor turnout ! Aside from a big turnout, not much more can really be said about the Music tonight. But lets start from the beginning hey!

Opening the bill tonight are young hopefuls The Impressionable’s.   The three piece group provide the eager crowd tonight with music I could only expect to hear from a twelve year old band, banging out the samey styles of Nirvana with badly timed percussion and unsatisfactory vocals. The lads had the potential to do a good job and it's good to see young bands getting out there.  Goodness  knows the boys are trying, but the impression given is that not only are they not ready for the gig and should probably think hard about practicing a bit longer before playing live . My impression is that sure, they can provide the “alternative looks”, the sound heard tonight is anything but inspiring.

With that opener out of the way one would hope for a quick pick-up before anyone’s ears gave way. Unluckily enough though, this does not happen.

Instead we are “blessed” by the  wannabe talent that is Plan B.
These young lads seem to be persuaded they are the Arctic Monkeys, and again, they do really try. But what we receive is a blend of poorly timed and un-original Indy rock which in all more amuses than impresses tonight’s flock of teens. Practice makes perfect guys, and speaking to others it sounds like the over-all message is “sort out your sound, then hit the scene”.

To finish what has so far been a bit of a dismay, are young talent Arthur.
Now there is no doubt that these guys have talent, bringing a steady mix of melodic keyboard and clever harmony to the material. This would be justified were it not for the lifeless vocals and overall lack of any form of energy or enthusiasm from the band. They say the vocals can make or break a band, and in this case, unless something is done about the lack of any sort of emotion or emphasis on them, I can’t see much happening for them. The idea is brilliant, the performance is lifeless, the music is dreary. It’s a shame as the group could easily do something, but annoyingly they don’t, and so end the night with a bit of a bore. Overall a pitiable line-up, which does beg the question “are these youth-acts actually up for hitting the scene?”

My thoughts are no, but as always, I’m open to be proven wrong.
