Tonight see’s a lot of familiar faces all in one room, which can only be described as a truly heart warming environment. Kids of all different scenes and groups in one room for one worthy cause. To support local bands. We see all Guildford based bands tonight, with both familiar and new acts up on the bill. The show proves a fine night in the Guildford scenes untarnished reputation.

First up are new kids on the block  Kill Claudio (formerly downshift) .

These guys obviously know what they want to do, but half the problem seems to be preparation. It can easily be seen that the guys have thought hard about this show, proving active and passionate about their music. This is somewhat let down by quite  a few  slip of timing during songs and in a few cases dynamic problems regarding their drummer. An easy mistake, but on the whole this makes quite a dent in their performance tonight. Blending the energy of early punk with new-metal, crossed with a half pint attempt at Jonathon Davies (korn) style vocals, the guys show they have true potential, but with an apparent lack of preparation, it can’t help but be thought that the guys are anything but on fire tonight. A fair performance, but unless technical errors can be fixed, the boys will be kept down.

Next up are Godalming-based familiar faces, Black Iris.

These guys have had more names that I’ve given reviews (well, maybe not that many), but tonight seem set to prove that with a final new name and a new drummer, comes a very new sound from them. Formerly Lift, the boys display their removal of typical teenage rock by screening half an hour of emotionally driven, new-metal induced punk. Complex it sounds, but the boys deliver a crisp and very energetic performance tonight, truly proving that they're done with the past, and like many bands, have progressed on to something worth listening to. If you want energy, a first-class example of hard work, and a plausible display of ego, then these guys are definitely worth a listen. Come two years time, I’m sure it won't be little old me reviewing their shows.

Then finally, we are treated to old-time metal foursome, RUTT.

These guys have been around for a while, I remember supporting them at a gig around a year and a half ago, and even then they had been around for a while. With new vocalist Ben “bunny” Simmons, the boys cut straight to the chase, delivering a melodic yet rampant set of old school technique meets new school vocal music. The guys clearly steal the show, with not a technical error to their name and a jaw dropping display of togetherness, it really is something special.

Keep your eyes peeled for these boys, as they’re clearly dominating at the moment.
