WHAT GOES ON DOWN THAT ALLEYWAY?
There’s a lot going on in the café throughout the year. We have our gig nights which run every month, movie nights, party nights, competitions and charity events. Inside the café we have sofa’s, pool table, table football, a Wii console, laptops and free internet access. As well as our own café ipod that you can select songs on to play.
Crucial to the café are our friendly café staff who are there to listen, chat and talk about anything and everything you want to.
WHAT MAKES IT A CAFÉ?
We serve a range of hot and cold food and drink, to keep you going – including the infamous Plantation café Toastie! Everything in our menu is under £2.50! We also have free water always on hand.
WHAT ARE CAFE AMBASSADORS?
The Café Ambassadors are all young people who have been involved with the cafe for some time and want to have a role in helping it to be successful by providing an essential link between staff and the Cafe and wider youth population we aim to serve. They provide a crucial link between staff, and young people, helping to ensure the staff team are kept up to date with current trends and are putting on events young people want to see.
They meet 4 times a year to discuss current trends in youth culture which the Cafe team should be aware of in their development of activities and events. At these meetings they also plan activities designed to get opinions on the cafe from other young people, both regular attendees, and other young people out in town who currently don’t use the Cafe. The Ambassadors also sit on our interview panels and support the Cafe management to make the right decisions on what staff to employ as youth workers in the Cafe. Please see below for the current list of Ambassadors. They’re the best people to speak to about being involved in the ambassador scheme, as they’re already doing it.
